Occupational Therapists (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) help individuals who have physical, developmental, social, or emotional problems that prevent them from performing general activities based on their individual needs. Patients are taught to use specialized rehabilitation techniques and equipment to improve function in basic household tasks, including activities of daily living (ADLs) such as eating, bathing, and dressing.

Occupational Therapists address the question, “Why does this person have difficulties in his or her daily activities, and what can we adapt to make it possible for him or her to manage their condition better to impact his or her health and well being?”
