Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)

Physical Therapy is a health care profession that provides services to restore the mobility and strength of patients with physical limitations or disabled by physical injuries. Through the use of exercise, therapeutic massage and other techniques physical therapists can help patients meet rehabilitative goals. This includes providing services in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease, or environmental factors. PT’s often help alleviate pain and restore injured muscles with specialized equipment and teach patients and caregivers special techniques for walking and transfer.

Physical Therapy involves the interaction between Physical Therapists (PT), patients, other health professionals, families, and caregivers in a process where movement potential is assessed and goals are agreed upon, using knowledge and skills unique to physical therapists. Physical therapy is performed by either a Physical Therapist (PT) or a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) acting under their direction.
